The Brookfield Riverwalk
A Community project designed to create understanding of the Still
River habitat and the benefits it has provided man & nature in the
past, present & future.
Sponsored by the Brookfield Conservation Committee the Riverwalk
project hopes to accomplish the following:
-
Clearing of log jams along river to provide accessibility by canoe.
-
Cleansing of storm water discharges in to the river.
-
Reintroduction of fish to the river
-
Planting of trees along river banks will help to stabilize the banks
as well as filter contaminants and toxins out of the mud and soil.
-
The project consists of four phases, design, permits, construction and
of course fund raising/volunteer recruitment.
-
Establishing an adopt-a-river program to maintain specific areas of
the river .
The Riverwalk will provide Brookfield with recreational, educational
and economic benefits but it will take the ambitions, dreams, and most
of all hard work of many to make it a reality.
If you have a background in landscaping, carpentry, engineering,
